Forest provides raw material for major industries such as paper, furniture, medicines, food & beverage etc.; to continue the access of this raw material the sustainable management of forests is essential. Untenable forests lead to its degradation and the services provided by the forests to industry and other stakeholders. Increased pollution, GHG emissions and consequently climate change, habitat destruction are additional factors impacting the forests and associated biodiversity. The forest are also providing livelihood to the local communities through collections of wild food, fodder and NTFP. The combination of these economic, social and environmental challenges could prove to be detrimental to the future growth of India as a country and as a sustainable economy. The forest certification and certified forest products ensure the source was managed sustainably which also helps in business to secure supply chain and meets customer demands.
